Denver Brick Company (DBC) has proposed a significant clay mining expansion (Golden Mine), on State of Colorado Trust Lands, on the east side of the Dakota hogback, adjacent to Highway 93 and just north of the Golden City limits. 

 

A significant number of community members strongly oppose or have major concerns regarding this proposed rezoning to allow for an expansion of mining in this area.

To unify and communicate public opposition, a not-for-profit corporation, Protect the Hogback (PTH), was established to challenge Denver Brick’s clay mining proposal. 

 

PTH will advocate for the greater community on issues related to the proposed mining with local, county and state representatives and agencies responsible for reviewing and making final decisions on permitting, zoning and land use.
